Keys to Success
Stakeholders and team members who were directly involved in the Emerald Hills Urban Village project (www.emerald-hills.ca) agree that the successful application of SuNliving was facilitated by the following essential elements:

commitment at all levels to moving towards achieving sustainable neighbourhood development;

project champions within each key stakeholder group;

a cooperative and collaborative relationship between the municipality and the development team;

integration with current planning practices;
-
generation of a sound business case;
-
a sustainability coordinator with a passion for the project and the ability to gain the trust and confidence of the stakeholders, and who is empowered to act as a representative for the entire project team; and
-
a sustainability consultant to facilitate and guide the application of SuNliving.
