Task 5: Develop Communication Strategy
Engage a communications group
Led by the sustainability coordinator, the core group identifies and engages a communications firm. This group is tasked with initiating communication strategies and tactics such as the project launch, an animation of the envisioned neighbourhood, a website and a marketing plan.
Develop a communication brief
The core team commissions the preparation of a communications brief to lay out short and long-term communication goals. Short-term objectives might include strategies to:

enable project partners to begin telling the story of the sustainable neighbourhood development to ensure ongoing community buy-in;

ensure key audiences are aware of ongoing development and see positive momentum;

position the project as a model of collaborative sustainable development between the various project partners.
Longer term objectives might include strategies to:

showcase sustainable community and infrastructure innovations and promote sustainable lifestyles as an on-going part of the development process; and

position the project as a leading catalyst for the development and replication of sustainable neighbourhoods.
